In this talk, Ms Ong Geok Chwee will share the business philosophy of Dr Kazuo Inamori and his execution finesse that has resulted in his success in building two Fortune 500 companies as well as the turnaround of JAL. Dr Kazuo Inamori is known as the "Saint of Management" in Japan. He founded Kyocera at the age of 27 years old and grew the company into a Fortune 500 company. At the age of 52 years, Dr Kazuo Inamori founded DDI (later renamed as KDDI), which has grown to be Japan's second largest telecommunications company. When Japan Airline filed for Bankruptcy protection in 2010, Japan’s Prime Minister sought the help of 78 years old Inamori who took on the role as Japan Airline’s chairman. He turned around JAL within a year.

Geok Chwee is a strong advocate of entrepreneurship and Dr Inamori's business philosophy and Amoeba Management. She is the Vice-President for Starhub. With more than 20 years’ experience in the Infocomm Technology Industry, Geok Chwee has extensive experience in overseeing the incubation, development and launch of new technologies and businesses in the enterprise sector. She had championed incubation of emerging growth business focusing on Software-as-a-Service, Internet-of-things, Big Data analytics with responsibilities spanning from regional Business Development, Product Development, Product management and Product Marketing. Geok Chwee is an evangelist in open collaboration with partners and customers, co-creating value driven innovation to drive new growth engine in the internet era.
In her free time, Geok Chwee volunteers at Cherie Blaire Foundation for Women as a Mentor for women entrepreneurs in developing country. She believes in empowering people through purposeful work. She is also a volunteer at Conjunct Consulting as a Project Director, working with social enterprises to leverage on volunteer professionals to drive business excellence.
